Bodybuilder Joey Swoll is on a mission to change gym culture.
In recent years we have seen a substantial increase in toxic gym behavior, and we have been seeing videos of people filming others in the gym to make fun of them, belittle them or humiliate them.
Nowadays, everyone has a camera on their phone, and it is easier than ever to film others in the gym.
Just rewind 10-years, and there were not many people who had a good camera on their phone.
Now everyone has an HD camera in their pocket, which may be why we are seeing more videos of gym bullies filming others in the gym and making fun of them.

Joey Swoll has been labeled the CEO of gym positivity and uses his vast social media platforms to defend innocent gym goers working out and filmed in the gym.
Recently a woman was recording herself squatting in the gym; however, many lifters got into the camera view because they were putting weight away, and the squat girl placed the camera near the weight rack.
The woman showed her frustration in the video by giving the lifters dirty looks and posting the video on social media to shame the lifters.
Joey Swoll was not amused and responded to the woman.
Here’s what he had to say:

So you have no shame in giving them dirty looks, which means you think that it is ok that you got upset for walking through your video when you set your camera up in front of the walkway to a dumbbell rack. The first kid is just getting some weights, the second kid after hitting some flies is going to put his weight back like he is supposed to but then turns around and gives them to his friend to use. If you look at that sign above your head it says please put your equipment away after use, it doesn’t say please look out for people filming then put your weights back. The gym is a shared space, you need to respect other people, if you can’t do that stay home. Filming gives you no priority over others. Mind your own business, be better than that.
