Bodybuilder Tom Platz had arguably the best legs ever in bodybuilding when he was competing.

Tom Platz competed at the highest level in bodybuilding, and he made several Mr. Olympia appearances; his best show in Olympia was in 1981 when he got 3rd place.

Platz also won the Mr. Universe bodybuilding competition in 1980.

Tom Platz wasn’t the average bodybuilder; he had legs so big that it made other bodybuilders look like they had chicken legs.

Tom Platz’s workout intensity to his workouts was insane; no one pushed his leg workouts as hard as Tom Platz did.

Earning him the nickname “Quadzilla” for his insanely big legs, he did a ton of volume when training legs.

Platz trained his legs in a hardcore way, and here is the routine he used for his legs:

  • Squats 8-12 sets of 5-20 reps
  • Hack Squats 5 sets of 10-15 reps
  • Leg Extension 5-8 sets of 10-15 reps
  • Leg Curls 6-10 sets of 10-15 reps
  • Standing Calf raises 3-4 sets of 10-15 reps
  • Seated Calf raises 3-4 sets of 10-15 reps
  • Hack machine calf raises 3-4 sets of 10-15 reps

Platz didn’t just have good legs, he was a great bodybuilder, and many believe he should have won the 1981 Mr. Olympia competition.

We certainly don’t see many people train with the same intensity as Platz did, he pushed his body to the absolute limit, and it worked.

Tom Platz’s physique is still celebrated today, and even though bodybuilders today are generally bigger than the guys who competed back in the day, there is still no one who can match the insane size in the legs Platz had.

Now Platz is 66-years old, and he is still training hard.

66-year old Platz probably has more giant legs than most guys training in the gym today.
