Fact Checked

Kirill Tereshin, 26-year-old Russian man, has become an internet sensation with his artificially inflated muscles.

Referred to as the “Russian Popeye” or Ruki Bazuki on social media platforms, Tereshin has won over fans around the world with his outlandish appearance and muscular arms filled with oil.

Recently, Tereshin can be seen proudly flaunting his bulging arms while wearing designer clothing.

However, beneath the facade of fame and fortune lies danger; medical professionals and concerned fans have urged him to reconsider his actions.

Tereshin began injecting synthol, a substance popular among bodybuilders, into his arms back in 2017 to enlarge them.

Take The Quiz

Synthol is composed of 85% medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) oil, 7.5% lidocaine and 7.5% alcohol and while it may give the illusion of larger muscles, long term use of synthol may cause severe health risks including nerve and muscle tissue damage as well as cyst formation in muscles as well as cardiovascular complications.

In 2019, Tereshin’s synthol use had dire consequences when he needed life-saving surgery to extract lumps of hardened petroleum jelly from his arms.

Dr. Melnikov from Sechenov Moscow State Medical University explained that petroleum jelly should never be injected and Tereshin had saturated his muscle tissues and blocked blood flow throughout his entire body – especially his kidneys.

Tereshin continues to flaunt his artificially enhanced muscles despite doctors warning of potential consequences from synthol use.

Doctors have warned him that he could face amputation or even death if he doesn’t change his ways, though Tereshin himself admitted not considering these consequences when he first began taking synthol: “I bulked up my arms when I was 20 out of sheer stupidity.”

Kirill Tereshin’s story serves as a cautionary tale about the potential hazards of abusing substances like synthol to achieve an ideal body image.

As fans express their worries for Tereshin’s wellbeing, we can only hope that he heeds their advice and seeks medical help to repair the harm caused by his dangerous modifications.
