Fact Checked

Ronnie Coleman is one of the greatest bodybuilders in the sport’s history.

Ronnie won the most prestigious bodybuilding competition globally, Mr. Olympia, eight times in his competitive career.

What Ronnie did was he out-massed his competitors, no one could match him in size, and he dominated the bodybuilding stage for eight years straight.

As a young man, Ronnie wasn’t planning on becoming a champion bodybuilder; he only competed in bodybuilding because the owner of Metroflex gym Brian Dobson offered him free gym membership if he would compete.

Brian was a competitive bodybuilder who saw potential in Ronnie Coleman. So he trained with him, and in a few months, Ronnie was already stronger and bigger than Brian even though Brian had trained for a lot longer.

Take The Quiz

Ronnie worked as a police officer the first years he won Mr. Olympia.

Ronnie Coleman Used to lift heavy weights

Ronnie was known for lifting heavy weights with a background in powerlifting. Ronnie was incredibly strong.

Most bodybuilders didn’t lift heavy like Ronnie because of injury risk.

The heavy lifting helped Ronnie build solid muscle mass, and one of his most famous quotes is.

Everybody wanna be a bodybuilder, but nobody wants to lift some heavy ass weights.

Ronnie was filmed a few weeks out from the Olympia, deadlifting 800 lbs and squatting 800 lbs, making him one of the strongest bodybuilders that competed at the highest level.

Ronnie wasn’t wrong with his famous quote as his most significant opponent at the time, Jay Cutler, was known for lifting with lightweights.

Ronnie used to hype himself up before heavy lifts yelling: “lightweight, yeah buddy, ain’t nothing but peanut and ain’t nothing to do but to do it.”

Jay finally managed to beat Ronnie Coleman in 2006 after placing second four times behind Ronnie Coleman.

After Ronnie squatted 800-lbs on film, he also filmed his insanely heavy leg press of 2300 lbs which he did in Metroflex gym, where he still trains.
