Fact Checked

Strongman and retired boxer Hafthor Bjornsson(34) has proved himself to be one of the strongest men on the planet, and he won the World’s Strongest Man competition in 2018.

A couple of years ago, Hafthor Bjornsson retired from professional strongman to box against Eddie Hall.

Eddie Hall and Hafthor Björnsson had personal conflict against one another after Hafthor Björnsson accused Eddie Hall of cheating his way to the title in the 2017 World’s Strongest Man competition.

Hafthor accused Eddie Hall and the judges of having worked together to choose an event in the World’s Strongest Man 2017 competition that suited Eddie Hall better.

The most significant controversy was in the Viking Press in the World’s Strongest Man competition when Hafthor got some of his reps disallowed because he double dipped, which was against the rules of the event; Eddie Hall won the event by one rep; Hafthor was furiously angry at that decision and that sparked rage which exploded when Eddie Hall secured the title.

Take The Quiz

Every strongman news website posted stories from Hafthor’s accusations against Eddie Hall cheating his way to the title.

Eddie talked about this and said this ruined his joy for winning the title because everyone was talking about how Hafthor got cheated and not how incredible it was for Eddie Hall to win the title.

Eddie Hall and everyone denied having cheated their way to the title, and Eddie even posted behind-the-scenes footage from WSM 2017 that proved no cheating involved.

Now it seems Hafthor is back into lifting some heavy weights as he recently said he was retiring from Boxing.

In the statement, Hafthor admitted that he never had a passion for Boxing; he said he respected the sport because of how hard it is, but he couldn’t continue investing his time in something he had no passion for.

Recently Hafthor has been posting a lot of lifting clips to his social media sites, already lifting hefty weights just soon as he is back into the lifting game.

We can’t help to wonder if Hafthor will compete again at the highest level in strongman and powerlifting.

Time will tell; however, in a recent video from Hafthor, he shares a squat mistake that could have left him seriously injured.

Fortunately, Hafthor didn’t get injured when he failed to rerack 340 kg of weight on the squat rack, this could have resulted in a freak accident, but thankfully Hafthor didn’t get severely hurt.
