Fact Checked

Hafthor Bjornsson, a former strongman who now competes as a powerlifter, made a recent announcement on his return to the world of strength sports.

He also disclosed that he intends to attempt to break the all-time record in raw powerlifting.

Although there are a lot of people who are looking forward to seeing the “Mountain” compete again, not everyone is sure that this is the best course of action.

Greg Doucette, a well-known bodybuilder and fitness guru, recently voiced his worry with Bjornsson’s choice in a video that was uploaded to his YouTube channel.

Doucette is of the opinion that Bjornsson should not return to competitive powerlifting after having retired from strongman due to health problems just two years ago.

He considers this to be a dangerous decision that might potentially shorten the athlete’s life.

Since beginning his career as a professional boxer, Bjornsson has lost a considerable amount of weight, going from weighing more than 440 pounds when he competed as a strongman to significantly less than that now.

But, Doucette is concerned that the strenuous training and nutrition requirements of powerlifting might cause Bjornsson to regain the weight he lost. This could be hazardous to Bjornsson’s health, especially now that he is married and has a family to care for,

Even though Doucette is aware that Bjornsson is unquestionably a talented athlete, he is of the opinion that Bjornsson should not pursue powerlifting records because doing so could put his health in jeopardy. This is especially true given that Bjornsson has already accomplished a great deal in his career as a strongman.

Powerlifting, like any other activity, presents inherent dangers, such as the possibility of injury and the strain it places on the body, according to Doucette. Moreover, according to Doucette, in order to break records in the manner in which Bjornsson intends to, one must make heavy use of various performance-enhancing drugs.

The rigors of powerlifting have the potential to aggravate Bjornsson’s preexisting health difficulties, notably the strain that has been placed on his heart.

Even though he admires Bjornsson’s ability and recognizes the time and effort he puts into strength sports, Doucette believes that it may be unwise for Bjornsson to pursue powerlifting records at this point in his professional and personal life.

This is the main point that Doucette is trying to convey. It can only be determined by the passage of time whether Bjornsson will take this piece of counsel to heart or whether he will proceed with his plan to break the powerlifting record.

Strongman events and powerlifting are two areas in which Hafthor Bjornsson has excelled, allowing him to leave an indelible imprint on the world of strength sports.

He has accomplished great things in each of these areas. His victory in the World’s Strongest Man competition in 2018 cemented his position as one of the strongest men in the world, and it is for this reason that he has become the most well-known of all strong men.

Yet, Bjornsson’s accomplishments are not limited to only winning one tournament. He is the only individual in the annals of human history to have ever achieved the accomplishment of deadlifting 501 kilograms (1,104 pounds), which he did in the comfort of his own home gym during the pandemic in the year 2020.

Bjornsson is now firmly established in the history books as one of the most powerful individuals who have ever walked the face of the world thanks to the record-breaking lift he performed.

Bjornsson has broken a number of different records and accomplished some incredible feats of strength in addition to setting the record for the deadlift and winning the title of World’s Strongest Man.

He has won the competition for Europe’s Strongest Man numerous times, and he has also done well in other important strongman competitions, such as the Arnold Strongman Classic. He has been the strongest man in Europe.

In spite of these accomplishments, some people have expressed worry over the possible physical toll that Bjornsson’s extraordinary feats of strength may have had on his body.
