He may not be famous for his bodybuilding achievements but more because of the condition he developed which was named after him and called Palumboism.
Palumboism
Dave was one of the first big bodybuilders to devlope a gut despite being ripped.
This is a condition which has been named after him “palumboism”.
We’ve seen this happen to a few bodybuilders in recent years, and it is a condition when the gut expands, while the arms and legs shrink.
This is believed to happen due to insulin and growth hormone misuse.

This was probably one of the reasons why Dave retired from competitive bodybuilding at just 36-years old.
We have seen more of this in recent years as bodybuilders have developed a strangely large gut when they misuse these substances.
Dave Palumbo Competitive Career
Dave Palumbo was a prospect in bodybuilding and had a very good physique.
However he never made it to be a pro bodybuilding and never placed higher than runner up expect when he won the NPC Junior championship in 1995.
Dave was really close and attempted 16 times to qualify to turn pro in the IFBB but wasn’t successful.
Near the end of his career he developed the condition which is named after him called palumboism and retired soon after that.
