Joey Swoll is on a mission to change toxic gym behavior; in recent months, we have seen a huge increase in videos filmed from the gym where people are making fun of others, shaming them, or are simply rude to them.
Joey believes everyone should feel welcome at the gym, and it should be a place of positivity and encouragement.
Joey has said numerous times in his videos that if you are training in a public gym, you don’t have the right to film anybody who doesn’t want to be filmes, he has also said that filming yourself in a public gym doesn’t give you a privilege over other gym members.
A public gym is a shared space and in many public gyms, it isn’t even allowed to record yourself.
So when people who are recording each other behave like they should get some special treatment,, it isn’t right, and Joey has responded to many of these influencers who film themselves and think they deserve special treatment.

Recently a young woman was squatting in the gym while filming her set when an innocent gym goer who was in the background of the video asked her to be quick with the filming because he didn’t wanna be in the video.
The squat woman said go squat over there, and the man said he couldn’t do that, then the woman said sorry in a sarcastic way.
Joey Swoll was not amused by this young woman who thought she deserved special treatment in a shared space.
Here’s what Joey had to say about this video:
I don’t think has anything to do with him being a man trying to rush you as a woman or sexist at all, so I am going to offer a different perspective and bring up a couple of points. First and foremost, your wanting to film at a commercial gym never, ever takes priority over other people that want to feel comfortable and don’t want to be in the background of your video and it never gives you the right to tell them to move somewhere else in the gym, really? Also just because you feel secure and confident enough with your body to film yourself at the gym in a public space, does not mean other people feel the same. There are so many men and women out there that won’t even go to the gym because they are scared to be in the background of someone’s video or having photos taken of them. So think about that, you know I had a client a few years ago a woman that was so ashamed of her body so insecure, she wouldn’t even take photos with her own kids, think about how she would feel in this situation. If you want to film in a public gym, be respectful of others if someone says that they don’t want to be in the background, just say ok, wait, be patient, be respectful, have a conversation with them, don’t talk to them like this, if you cant do that go to a private gym, there is literally content created gyms popping up all over the place, go there. So unless your name is on the gym you need to be respectful of others, you need to do better than that, mind your own business.
