There are loads of ways on how a gym partner can help you train harder, stay more consistent and help you make more gains.

However, choosing a lousy gym partner can have the opposite effects.

In this post, we will go over five ways to identify your gym partner is a loser, and you should drop him immediately if you want faster gains.

Chit Chats Too Much

If your gym buddy chit-chats to the point that you are delaying your set on many occasions because he is always telling you a story, joke and that your workouts seem to take forever because your gym buddy is always chatting, then drop him.

Time is valuable, and if your workouts that should take an hour take one and half hours because your gym buddy can’t keep his mouth shut, it will negatively affect your gains.

It’s also annoying when you are fired up for your set and have to wait for your mate to finish his story before you do your set.

With time, this will negatively impact your gains, resulting in a less effective workout and less time to do other things in the day.

”Training Expert” with shitty work ethic

Have you ever trained with someone who looks like shit, trains like a grandma but seems to know everything about training, diet, and everything to make gains.

These people will spend hours educating others on their knowledge but don’t apply it for themselves.

At some point, you have to put the books down and train like a beast.

It’s easy to know everything; more challenging is working hard and using that knowledge to get better.

These people seem to look the same with each year that goes by; even though they train regularly, they can’t seem to make solid gains, but they are always quick to criticize other people around them.

Make sure to stay away from those guys and not have them as a workout partner.

There are people in the gym that, back in the day, from their description, were the most muscular guys in the gym.

They used to deadlift 600 lbs back in the old days; they used to bench over 300 lbs etc.

Training with a gym partner like that can be annoying as hell, as anything you do, this guy has done better back in the old days; even though chances are they probably haven’t, they will still try to claim big numbers.

He is Lazy

There are always some people in the gym who try to do as little as possible while training.

These kinds of people will always encourage you to do less than you originally planned.

Fewer sets, less weight, more minor exercises, and less effort.

They take it easy on themselves, and that’s the reason they achieve slow results.

The highlight of their workout is when they are done and can checkmark on going to the gym.

It doesn’t matter what they did in the gym. They are just glad they went to the gym.

If you have a lazy workout partner, it’s like a virus that transmits; you will become lazier before realizing what happened to you.

He is The Inconsistent gym bro

One of the most challenging things about lifting weights is staying consistent for years.

Many people take a hard session for a few months, then all of a sudden stop showing up.

Even though they made decent gains, they still stopped showing up.

Then a few months pass, they are back in the gym and stay dedicated again for a few months.

Then they stop again and lose all their gains. This cycle can stay on for years.

Having a gym partner like that will not benefit you in the long run; if you want a solid gym partner all year round, then don’t have these guys as gym partners.
