1. I work too much

This may be one of the most common excuses for lifters to quit the gym, they start working a lot, and suddenly they can’t show up to the gym.

I get it, it’s hard-working long hours, and some days you may not have time to go to the gym, but that doesn’t mean you can’t train 2-3 times per week for an hour.

Nobody has to quit the gym entirely; there is always time, and you can even have dumbbells at home.

There are loads of people who work long shifts most days of the week and still train their asses off; that’s not an excuse to stop going to the gym; it’s just pure laziness.

2. I have a kid now

There are loads of people with multiple kids who still find the time to show up to the gym.

You may have less free time with a kid, but it is certainly not going to prevent you from showing up to the gym a few days a week.

This is one of the lamest excuses around, using an innocent child to explain why you can’t stay in shape and reach your fitness goals.

Many parents purchase a pair of dumbbells to sometimes work out at home; there are many solutions to continue training.

3. My Shoulder/back is permanently injured

Shoulder and back injuries are pretty common among lifters and can be bad for some people.

They are not an excuse to completely let go of the gym, though; there is always a possibility to go to a physiotherapist to fix the problem.

You can also work around injuries in the gym; if your shoulder is screwed, don’t do exercises that screw it even more.

Nobody is telling me that you can’t squat because of a shoulder injury.

4. I have a girlfriend now that doesn’t care about my gains

Haven’t we all seen the guy who falls in love with a girl and stops showing up to the gym?

Then a few months later, he might break up with her and come back.

Some guys don’t break up with their girlfriend and completely ignore the gym; their reason is that their girlfriend doesn’t care about the gym.

5. There are more important things in life

There may be more important things in life than the gym, but our health should always be a priority.

If you don’t have good health, you don’t have much at all; gym training can benefit your health, a crucial part of living a fulfilling life.

I know some guys will say, “lifting is dangerous; all these bodybuilders are dying,” well, we are not talking about professional bodybuilders that abuse PEDS and go to extreme lengths to get ripped; we are talking about the natural gym rats that workout.

Usually, people who use the excuse “there are more important things in life” watch Netflix four hours per day, so they don’t have anything better to do anyway, so why not go to the gym?

6. I Don’t care how I look anymore

That’s just the same as saying, ” I am too lazy to work out.”

Well, of course, it’s anyone’s choice to do whatever they want; nobody has to work out, but people who quit the gym use excuses because they are lazy.

They can go to the gym and live a better life, but they choose the path of least resistance, which is skipping the gym and eating chips on the sofa.

7. I don’t want to get injured

Lifting too heavyweights, ego lifting, and not using the correct form can induce injuries while lifting.

Most lifters that have been in the gym for some time have injured themselves in some way, most of the time, injuries are short-term, but some people get more severe injuries.

However, lifting smartly with the correct form will prevent many injuries from happening in the first place.

If you are terrified about injuries, just don’t ego lift, use perfect form, and don’t ego lift; you can also get injured walking up a flight of stairs.

Usually, this is just an excuse lazy people use because they are too lazy to work out.

8. Lifting weights is dangerous; haven’t you seen all those bodybuilders dropping like flies

There have been many bodybuilders recently that have passed away.

I know some guys will say, “lifting is dangerous; all these bodybuilders are dying,” well, we are not talking about professional bodybuilders who abuse PEDS and go to extreme lengths to get ripped; we are talking about the natural gym rats that workout.

Natural bodybuilders who train hard aren’t at the same risk as bodybuilders that use countless illegal substances to enhance their physique.

The average gym rat should not be afraid to train because pro bodybuilders are often unhealthy and at risk for many health conditions.

9. I don’t enjoy training anymore

Everyone loses that drive, fire, and motivation to push harder and get in shape.

Lifting weights may become mundane and boring at times; however, that is the time you can switch things up.

Try something different; shorten your workouts and perform them with more intensity.

Eventually, you get that drive and motivation back; it’s just a part of being dedicated to the gym.

It’s a commitment being in the gym, you have to commit yourself, and you will get the rewards.

With commitment, you can push through the days you lack the inspiration to train, and eventually, you will get over it and find that passion again.

10. I get no results, so why waste time training

Because it takes many people so long to get results, they just quit the gym.

Some people aren’t even training optimally or eating right but think the gym is useless and a waste of time because they don’t get immediate results.

It takes months of hard training to see improvements in your physique, and you might develop a passion for training.

When you enjoy training, you don’t care about immediate results; you are training regardless of immediate results because you want movement.

So try to find a program or a way of lifting that you enjoy; for me, it’s training for strength, but it can be something entirely different for you.

There is also a learning curve, learning to perform the exercises correctly, eating right, and staying consistent.

Eventually, you find out what works for your physique.

That’s also why most people quit within a few months of starting in the gym and using this lame excuse.
