Rich Piana was a legendary bodybuilder in the fitness community who amassed millions of fans for his incredible physique, no bullshit advice and mindset regarding success in life.

Unfortunately, Rich Piana passed away at 46 years old in 2017, his passing was a tragic loss to the fitness community as at the time he was one of the most popular and loved influencers in the game.

Rich gained attention for his honesty, he wasn’t afraid to speak his mind, give away his secrets for building muscle and admitting to using steroids.

Rich was one of the first influencers in the game to be transparent about his life, not many guys talked about steroid use and Rich was one of the first big bodybuilders to openly discuss it on his YouTube channel.

Even though Rich Piana talked about performance-enhancing drugs in his videos he did not recommend using them, he encouraged people to stay natural and healthy.

Rich Piana started training when he was a teenager with the goal in mind to become one of the best bodybuilders on the planet.

Rich was a good bodybuilder but never managed to go to the elite level, he lost the ambition to become a professional bodybuilder and wanted to focus more on making money and a name for himself without competing in the sport.

Rich was really successful in his endeavour, he started posting videos on his YouTube channel and quickly blew up to one of the biggest influencers in the fitness scene.

Rich also launched a supplement company called 5% Nutrition, and his name is used in that brand still to this day even though there has been controversy about the brand continuing because Rich has passed away.

Rich Piana posted a video on his YouTube channel on eating for hard gainers.

Rich explained that he sees these guys that don’t have a lot of muscle on eating lean chicken breast, rice, turkey, and asparagus.

Rich says you need more calorie-dense foods to put the muscle on.

This may be done by adding toast to your breakfast, eating the whole egg instead of only the egg whites, adding peanut butter in your oatmeal and have snacks like a banana in the day, Rich explains.

As far as meats Rich recommends hard gainers eat more red meat, as it will help them grow.

This is what people don’t get, they are eating 6-10 meals a day, their regime, they are cooking their food but they are not really gaining any weight because they are not eating enough calories in order to put that weight on. Especially if you have a fast metabolism, there are guys that have to eat what is not necessarily the best food to be eating just because they got to get those extra calories in
