Phil Heath 7 time Mr. Olympia winner placed 3rd in the 2020 Mr Olympia which was held in Florida around three weeks ago.
There have been many speculations about Phil retiring from bodybuilding completely after that show which is kind of a logical decision since he has not won the Mr Olympia since 2017, placed second in 2018 , didn’t compete in 2019 and placed 3rd in 2020.
It definitely seems like Phil has passed his prime in bodybuilding but maby not, he has just announced that he will be competing in the 2021 Mr. Olympia and the reason behind it is that he feels that there is some unfinished business.
Keep in mind that Phil isn’t that old for a bodybuilder he is 41-years of age.
Even though that sounds old for a competitive sport, many bodybuilders have done well in their forties.

Ronnie won a his last title when he was 40 years old back in 2005.
Dexter Jackson won the Olympia 38 years old back in 2008 and second place in 2015 were he was 45-years old.
Shawn Rhoden won the Mr. Olympia in 2018 when he was 42-years old
When it comes to bodybuilding it seems like competitors perform the best after 30 years of age.
So the age might not be the problem for Phil, he probably has a few years left to compete at the highest level if he chooses to.

Phil Heath Current Weakness
The biggest problem Phil Heath is facing is not his competitors, it is an issue he has battled for the last few years.
It is his distended stomach issue.
Phil has not been able to control his stomach well enough in the last few years due to hernia which he has had surgery to fix.
Even though he underwent surgery to fix this issue prior to competing in 2020 it still looks like he has trouble controlling his gut.
Phil is still a great bodybuilder and if he manages to fix his stomach issue he is capable of winning this year’s Mr. Olympia.
Maby Phil just needed more time to recover after the surgery to completely eliminate his gut issue.
Either way we are very excited to hear about him coming back to the stage and trying to tie the Olympia title record with Ronnie Coleman and Lee Haney which both have won the Mr. Olympia 8 times.
Why is Phil Heath Coming Back?
Phil explains that he has some unfinished business.
It seems like Phil is determined to go down in the record books with Lee Haney and Ronnie Coleman by winning the Mr. Olympia 8 times.
Currently Phil has won it 7 times which is the same as Arnold Schwarzenegger which managed to win the Olympia 7 times back in the 70’s.
