Take The Quiz
  • Prop blend. Well, that’s a bad way to start.
  • Too many ingredients. At least that’s what I’m seeing. I’ll get back to you on this one.
  • 125 mg caffeine. Now this is funny. For a supplement that has the words “extreme” and “edge” put together, you’d think you’ll get more than a fistful of caffeine.

Bluebonnet Nutrition Extreme Edge pre workout Review: ingredients list

Bluebonnet Nutrition Extreme Edge pre workout’s entire formula is 10 grams per serving, but the true formula is just about 4.5 grams give or take. Depending on the sequence of ingredients and the required dosage for synergy, 4.5 grams may be alright or totally underdosed.

Explosive Energy & Mental Focus AMP Stack, 1, 325 mg

  • Beta alanine as CarnoSyn. Seeing that the original blend serving is 1.325 grams, it’s more than obvious that beta alanine is underdosed. Even if we have the branded form of CarnoSyn, which is known for purity and higher bioavailability, the dosage needs to be at least 2 grams if we’re looking for anything decent for endurance and fatigue.
  • Caffeine from green tea and cocoa bean. We have a disclosed value of 125 mg which is fairly weak as it’s dosage is equivalent to just over a cup of brewed coffee. They also felt the need to mention the sources aren’t the synthetic anhydrous form. This is because caffeine from these two sources are said to not exhibit the same side effects that anhydrous gives. Whichever the case, the dosage is too low for a stimulant.
  • Taurine works by improving cell hydration and maximizing cellular metabolism. It works well with caffeine, so that’s a huge plus.
  • This is a nootropic that functions as a mood enhancer. Problem is, we don’t know how much tyrosine we have and being at the bottom of the rung doesn’t exactly bode well for it either.

Extreme Muscle Pump Stack, 2,000 mg

  • Creatine complex (monohydrate & malate). Creatine is universally known as the one ingredient a lot of bodybuilders will likely take for decades. It’s known for its muscle recovery benefits. The problem is, the declared dosage in this blend (as a whole) is 2 grams. Creatine can work with that amount, but seeing it shares it with another dose-hog…it’s underdosed. Severely, underdosed.
  • Leucine, Isoleucine, and Valine. These are collectively known as BCAAs. BCAAs do a lot of good stuff for your muscle such as improving protein synthesis as well as improving gains. As with creatine, you’re going to need more than 2 grams for these three to work their bets.

Nitric Oxide Super (NOS) Charger Stack, 1, 120 mg

  • Arginine complex (arginine, arginine alpha ketoglutarate). Arginine is the basic compound needed to produce nitric oxide. The problem with arginine is much of it is destroyed upon direct ingestion. AAKG helps with bioavailability, but not as much as the next ingredient.
  • Citrulline Malate. This is the best nitric oxide producer in the supplement industry. The best thing about it is it’s highly bioavailable and a lot of it enables the production of arginine which then results to more nitric oxide. The problem is we need a minimum of 2 grams for this baby to work, and there’s no way we even have half of that.
  • This is an amino acid responsible for calcium absorption as well as muscle growth.

Bluebonnet Nutrition Extreme Edge pre workout Review: formula analysis

Bluebonnet Nutrition Extreme Edge pre workout has all the right ingredients and intent, but lacks the right dosages. That’s been one of the more common problems I’ve found in some of my reviews, companies creating supplements stacked to high heaven with high quality and premium shit, only to be dulled by piss-poor dosing.

The title itself said “Extreme Edge” and yet I don’t find anything extreme about any of this at all.

Beta alanine, Creatine, and Citrulline are among some of the most dosage-hungry ergogenics in the market, with their clinical studies using upwards of three grams, sometimes five or more to generate a good result.

The dosages we have in Bluebonnet Nutrition Extreme Edge pre workout is nowhere near half the clinical dosages, so we can’t say how good they’ll work. It’s a shame too, since the trio are really popular for all sorts of fitness fanatics.

The caffeine is also too low. The 125 mg may be safe (especially since it’s sourced from natural substances), but it’s also too weak for the purpose of Bluebonnet Nutrition Extreme Edge pre workout.

Don’t get me started on BCAAs, bro. Just don’t. All you need to know is it’s often taken upwards of five grams per serving. No way in hell are we getting that in  Bluebonnet Nutrition Extreme Edge pre workout.

Protip: Amazingly enough, the fact that we have such low levels of caffeine permit us to be creative by using alternative stacks to improve it. You can choose to stack it with your base supplement, or you can use it as a base and stack with another low-dosed supplement.

You can also choose to double the serving, getting some of the underdosed ingredients within their working doses. That is if you’re fine with the increase in caffeine.

So, does Bluebonnet Nutrition Extreme Edge pre workout work?

Bluebonnet Nutrition Extreme Edge pre workout works on a lot of the things you need in creating a pre workout, except not in the potency they claimed. The most it can do for you is do a little of everything, but only a little. You may even need to sip an extra cup of coffee just to fill the energy Bluebonnet Nutrition Extreme Edge pre workout forgot.

Does Bluebonnet Nutrition Extreme Edge pre workout have a lot of caffeine?

125 mg ain’t much, bro. If you’ve been drinking coffee for decades, 125 mg is child’s play. It’s just a little over a cup of brewed coffee, and I think it’s better if you drink coffee instead if all you’re after is energy.

So, is Bluebonnet Nutrition Extreme Edge pre workout any good or just hype?

I can see why it’s hyped, especially because of the ingredient quality, but I’m not rooting for it. The ingredients are great, the formula design was intelligent, but they failed where it mattered most: Dosages.

You can have a bad ingredient. You can mess your formulation up. If you have the right dosages, though, people will be more considerate.

Bluebonnet Nutrition Extreme Edge pre workout Review: benefits for muscle

The only benefits I can extract from Bluebonnet Nutrition Extreme Edge pre workout is perhaps a decent amount of muscle recovery. It has creatine and beta alanine which, while the doses are weak for performance, can still help repair damaged muscle tissue after strenuous exercise.

Who is Bluebonnet Nutrition Extreme Edge pre workout made for?

Bluebonnet Nutrition Extreme Edge pre workout is likely made for the new guys in the industry. They don’t know the whole thing about dosages yet. They know the brands and extracts, but no clue on the part about dosages. They also kinda hate caffeine for whatever reason.

Bluebonnet Nutrition Extreme Edge pre workout Review: side effects

The good thing about low dosing is the reduced side effects. Beta alanine isn’t likely to make you itch and the caffeine we have ain’t the type known for jitters and crashing. The bloating associated with creatine wouldn’t be all that bad even if it’s there because the forms used are anti-bloating, so to speak.

Bluebonnet Nutrition Extreme Edge pre workout Review: pros and cons

Pros

  • Premium shit. The kind of shit you want to see in any formula.
  • Not so much on side effects. It won’t mess you up, bro.
  • Can be potent. If you doubled up or stacked it.

Cons

  • Weak dosing. It’s just sad, bro.
  • Especially if you took two scoops instead of one.
  • Too many other Seriously, I thought it was another blend altogether.

Pricing info

  • 1 bottle (60 servings): $43.50
  • Available online and in retail stores.

Bluebonnet Nutrition Extreme Edge pre workout Review: summary

Bluebonnet Nutrition Extreme Edge pre workout has all the knowledge of a good pre workout when it comes to ingredients, formula design, and even overall functionality. They don’t hesitate on using high quality ingredients most companies tend to shy away from. The big ball buster here is the fact that they didn’t even bother with working dosages.

As I mentioned earlier, you can get away with bad ingredient choices if you level the field with proper dosing equivalents.

One way to actually make Bluebonnet Nutrition Extreme Edge pre workout a good supplement is by doubling the scoop. Twice the potency, but you only get 30 servings instead of 60. It’s not a bad trade off considering most pre workouts sell 30 servings anyway. It’s still a bit expensive, but at least doubling the scoop makes Bluebonnet Nutrition Extreme Edge pre workout worth the purchase.
