I'm a semi-beginner,I lift twice a week and have been going that for the past 2 years during baseball season, nothing too crazy.I'm gonna be a senior next year and I wanted to put on some size so I will be working out this summer for at least 3 days of lifting weights, what types of exercises are recommended for gaining mass

Re: Type of exercises
Compound lifts and core exercises are great for baseball players (I played baseball for 14 years). Make sure to do PLENTY of core work (lots of ab's/obliques). Also, make sure to work your lower body. You get most of your strength pitching/hitting/running from your legs, so it'd only make sense to make sure you train them. Lastly, make sure to STRETCH, STRETCH, STRETCH all the time!
Some people say size doesn't matter when hitting, but that's completely false. I don't play anymore and I don't know how much my bat speed's increased since I put on size, but I used to struggle hitting 330 ft. back in my 150 lb. days, but when I weigh over 200 lbs., I have no problem hitting 375-400 ft. I remember the first time I hit when I weighed over 200 lbs., and I was hitting them well over the 375. feet sign in the power alley at our high school's field.

The coach makes us do mostly compound lifts, bench pressing,a little deadlifting and some squats....then again is just for baseball nothing to intricate. He,however trains with the pitchers and they do more training for strength and mass compared to us who do more cardio..

Re: Type of exercises
Pitchers are training MORE for mass than position players?! That's the STUPIDEST thing I've ever heard. Pitchers are the ones who need the most conditioning - considering they can throw upwards of 100 pitches in a game - and they're certainly not the ones who should be training for strength. They should be doing the sprints, suicides, ladder drills, etc.
Look at it this way - how many pitchers in the major leagues are jacked? Just about none. Most of them are tall, a lot of times thin, but in great condition.
Batters, on the other hand (particularly the corner positions) are usually pretty well put together, considering they're power positions and you pretty much can't succeed in today's game (in the majors) at a corner position unless you can hit for power. 2B, SS, and CF's are usually not power hitters - these are generally speed positions - so they should also focus more on conditioning. There are always exceptions to the rule (think: Matt Kemp in CF [although he has speed, he also has power] or Tulo at short [again, some speed, but a lot of power for a SS]).

There is no specific time for it to end,it can take 4 hours but it can also last 8 hours, whoever has the most runs by the 9th inning or if they go to extra innings, the team who gets the winning run, wins lol

What position do you play? but mainly stick with compound lifts, and keep pushing and focusing on FORM more than anything

you'd do well to start with a 5x5 program, starting strength is a great example. Its been very well preached around and there is alot of easily accessible information on it.

Re: Type of exercises
I think the best type of exercise is running, i do running in morning only 25 minutes. I don't run fast, i run slowly slowly. Sometime i do jogging and walking these are also good types of exercise. Good Luck!

machines should not be the basis of your program though, they tend to limit the motions that are natural and actually helpful toward building applicable strength

Thankfully I had my bro workout with me when I began. He helped show me proper form. If I didn't have him I would have been going through machines for sure.
