Default IIFYM

most nutrionists hate it but it really makes sense.doesn't mean you should eat shitty food all day long every day but you can certainly fit non conventional bb food into your diet without the guilt.if you haven't checked it out give it a try

I'm all about IIFYM. The only thing I do differently is I pay attention to simple vs complex carbs...fitting your macros or not, you should always pay attention to limiting your simple carbs to certain times (like preWO).

Any logical reasoning behind this? And don't tell me it has to do with controlling insulin....

I've noticed that when I eat complex carbs I have more sustained energy andré do that between meals since I eat every 4-6 hours.I just save simple carbs post postworkout

Does this mean that all your carbs come from sugar and all your fat comes from a deep fat fryer? Or is it everything in moderation?

I would have to agree with you there. Although people who don't will always just say "everything in moderation even moderation"

I re-read what I posted and I should re-state it. I meant that everyone should pay attention to how simple carbs vs complex carbs affects them personally, and take that into account when eating. 300g carbs of cake is not the same as 300g of whole wheat pasta, even ignoring the obvious nutrient differences, they will affect the body differently and at different rates.

Really it comes down to the individual. Personally I try and limit my simple carbs to times of high-activity like lifting or hiking or whatever. Otherwise they tend to make me feel sluggish and possibly even sick; I can't eat my aunt's absolutely delicious apple dumplings cause they make me want to hurl...they're a bit of an extreme case, but I also can't eat more than half a piece of white or yellow cake for the same reason. My body does not process them as well.

If you're looking to make the most out of your diet, it's not just about hitting your macros and timing and blah blah blah. Being reasonable with your food choices is also very important. Simple vs complex carbs is the one of the easiest things to change to help out with keeping yourself on track in terms of both energy and satiety.

Not saying anyone on here doesn't already know this stuff, I just like to cover all my bases when getting into discussions.

EDIT: JD: yes, these effects do have to do with insulin, but no, I don't care about controlling it per say.

By before, I take it you mean in preference of. And the answer then is yes and no: yes, cause food tastes better than a shake (almost) always; no, because it really just comes down to how much time I have to eat and convenience.

Yeah, I try and stick to whole food, love me some chicken. More than just protein in it

To be fair, it's a bit of a sledgehammer approach. There's no point looking healthy on the outside and being fat on the inside

glad you enjoyed it.

Personally once I adopted a full IIFYM approach (for the past 8-10 weeks) - my body recomposition has been spectacular. Its all about balance though. We don't eat pop tarts, peanut butter, and whey powder and throw our bodies to the wolves - needless to say you could if you wanted to, but general health is a concern for some people.

Shit this week I've had an entire cheesecake to myself EVERY DAY.

I think you're in the wrong industry if you have that opinion

9.9/10 people who are on this site (and likely on bodybuilding.com) would totally disagree with you and say they'd take unhealthy insides and an aesthetic physique over the reverse any day of the week (that includes me)

that being said, my diet is balanced and contains a good amount of veggies along with a healthy dose of fish oil and a multivitamin..

IIFYM is more of a mental break than anything else, ever since I started doing it, I haven't had the urge to cheat in almost 2 months now and all I have is a nice 90cal ice cream sandwich every other day or so.
